Mix the vermouth, bourbon whisky, and bitters with a few ice cubes in a mixing glass. Stir gently. Put the cherry in a cocktail glass, and strain the mix over the cherry. Rub the inside part of the orange peel on the edge of the glass and then twist is over the glass in order to add the oils but do not drop the peel into the drink.
Usually the Manhattan is served in a Cocktail Glass.
